Mandela Day & Meeting Recap #8

July 18, 2011 at 9:19 am Leave a comment

Today, Nelson Mandela’s 93rd birthday, is Mandela International Day.  Join the world in making a commitment to 67 minutes of service.  click here to learn more and revisit our Austin2Africa project video to see how a small group of volunteers made a big difference in South Africa.

Here are a few quick updates from the team:

  • Shannon worked with a local Chick-Fil-A last week to raise money for A2A.  Customers donated their receipts on Thursday evening and a portion of their purchases went toward our project!
  • We are creating individual volunteer pages on our Crowdrise page in a push to raise the money for our first project, the Community Training Center. We each have a personal goal of $1,200 to make this happen, so find your favorite volunteer and make a donation today to help us get the first community center underway!
